So I just finished music directing a workshop of Tim Brady and Marjorie Chan’s Do Not Say We Have Nothing (based on the novel by Madeleine Thien). What an exciting and immediately powerful work. This show deserves a production!

Coming up this month is a performance of Missing: The Opera at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Kingston with my Continuum pals and ATOM (Artists of the Opera Missing). This opera explores the ongoing tragedy of missing and murdered indigenous women in Canada. The show is sold out. We will also present it in Montreal next spring.
I will be playing piano (and marimba!) in Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians at Koerner Hall for Soundstreams Canada. I will also play in the Canadian premiere of Reich’s In All Your Ways. TICKETS

I will be conducting my third production for Tapestry Opera! Dog Days is a dystopian opera about a post-apocalyptic United States, by the amazing librettist Royce Vavrek (of Against the Grain) and David T. Little. This will be the Canadian premiere. Hey everyone. Long time no post! Here are few updates…
Feb 2026 – I played the keyboard part in Simon Steen-Anderson’s delightful Black Box Music for New Music Concerts. Also got to premiere a great work by Rashaan Allwood.
Apr 2026 – I played some Claude Vivier and Nicole Lizée with my pals Noam Bierstone and Carla Huhtanen for Soundstreams Canada in Toronto, Chicoutimi, QC and for New Music Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Also conducted Outside Hollow for Continuum Contemporary Music with the great guitarist Rob MacDonald (and guest pianist Jesse Plessis!) and music directed the workshop production of Afarin Mansouri’s The Refugees for Cultureland Opera.
In May/June I was playing piano for Tapestry Opera/Canadian Opera Company’s production of Ten Days in a Madhouse by Rene Orth and Hannah Moscovich. Killer opera, killer cast, killer band. It is a remarkable piece. I am so lucky to get to be able to work on such interesting contemporary work. I then left to do some teaching at the Banff Centre in their Summer Opera Program. Maybe the best job in the world?
Summer also means the beginning of Summer Music in the Garden, the music series I have been curating with Harbourfront Centre in Toronto’s Music Garden for the past 6 years. I really love being a part of this vital series.
